E6 project partner Nevers Agglomération has begun transforming the Pré-Poitiers waste collection centre into a modern ecocentre.
The Pré-Poitiers site is undergoing a major extension and modernization, driven by growing population needs and pressing environmental challenges. By 2024, the site will have tripled in size, expanding from 2,500 m² to 9,500 m². This expansion aims to improve sorting quality, promote reuse, and reduce waiting times, offering a more efficient and eco-friendly service.
In addition to this expansion, the project includes the development of a workshop and a Recyclerie at the Grands Prés Ecocentre. This closer collaboration will deliver a more comprehensive service, tailored to the needs of local residents, while providing the region with modern and sustainable facilities.
Supported by the PTCE ECRIN Nevers Val de Loire initiative, the new ecocentre will engage local citizens and encourage green practices. Key partners, such as ANAR, ASEM, SUEZ, and Emmaüs France, are central to the project, focusing on recycling and helping individuals rejoin the workforce.
The project was officially launched by Denis Thuriot, Chairman of Nevers Agglomération, Mayor of Nevers, and Regional Councillor for Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, alongside Fabrice Berger, Vice-Chairman of Nevers Agglomération responsible for Ecological Transition, and Delphine Perrot, Regional Director of SUEZ Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.
The transformation of the historic Pré-Poitiers waste collection centre into a modern, innovative ecocentre demonstrates Nevers Agglomération's strong commitment to ecological transition and environmental optimization.
